The Fuji Finepix S1000fd is a super zoom digital camera. Its 12x optical zoom does not match up in terms of length with some of the longest zooms now available on the market, but the upside of this is the it makes the Finepix S1000fd one of the cheaper super zoom models.
There are a set of manual exposure modes (fully manual, aperture priority and shutter priority), plus access to more advanced features such as white balance, exposure compensation and different types of metering. Those controls coupled with the price tag make the Finepix S1000fd well worth considering if you are new to photography and you are looking to master the basics of the art without going overboard in terms of budget.
Power is supplied by 4 AA batteries. This gives you the convenience of being able to pick up a set of batteries more or less anywhere in the world, but can add to running costs.
