The Olympus FE-5020 gives you plenty of megapixels with 12 packed onto the sensor. This is enough for poster size prints. Aside from the number of megapixels on offer the FE-5020 has two main attractions. The first is ease of use and the second is the ultra wide angle lens. The lens has a minimum focal length equivalent to 24mm in 35mm format. This is currently as wide as any compact digital camera offers. A wide angle lens helps you squeeze extra width into a shot, so this is likely to be attractive to you if you like to shoot sweeping landscapes of groups of people. It should be noted though that although the zoom offers you 5x magnification it cannot zoom in as far as other 5x zoom digital cameras that do not have a wide angle lens.
The LCD screen is a good size at 2.7 inches and although the feature set is fairly basic you do have access to face detection and also AF tracking. AF tracking helps the FE-5020 to retain focus on moving subjects.
Olympus has produced the FE-5020 in a choice of four colours with dark grey, blue, brown and sky blue models available. |
